Metra is one of the largest and most complex commuter rail systems in North America serving Cook, DuPage, Will, Lake, Kane, and McHenry Counties. The agency is linking communities in Northeastern Illinois by providing safe, reliable, and efficient commuter service.
This department oversees the design and construction of Metra capital projects and oversees the work of contractors implementing these projects. Capital projects overseen by this group include stations and parking, as well as structural, electrical, and mechanical design.
Reporting to the Director, Project Controls, the Senior Scheduler is responsible for the development, update, and management of the Capital Delivery Master Program Schedule, the development and updating of schedule management processes and procedures, and schedule management training for Metras Capital Delivery Team.
The primary duties include:
- Oversee the development, update, and maintenance of Metras Capital Delivery Master Program Schedule, ensuring project data is entered and updated correctly and timely, templates are used properly, and questions are answered.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of project schedule templates, including all phases of project scope development.
- Identify and prioritize training needs, develop training materials, and deliver schedule management training to staff.
- Develop and update schedule management processes and procedures, ensuring consistency of operations.
- Manage all aspects of the Schedule Management System within the Project Management Information System (PMIS), ensuring system structure is compatible and integrates with other Project Controls functions and systems.
- Responsible for verifying compliance with the established work breakdown structure of project tasks.
- Promote safe work practices and maintain and foster a safe work environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
