1st Shift Monday to Friday 8AM to 9 AM flexible 4PM to 5PM end time - OT as needed

Position Summary

The Shipping Associate is responsible for preparing, packing, and shipping finished goods via domestic LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) and parcel carriers. This role ensures all shipments are packaged securely, labeled correctly, and shipped on time to meet customer expectations while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pack and crate products according to company standards to ensure safe transit
  • Build custom crates and use appropriate packaging materials to protect fragile or high-value items
  • Prepare and process domestic shipments using LTL and parcel carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS)
  • Accurately label shipments and verify shipping documentation
  • Weigh, measure, and record shipment details for carrier compliance and cost accuracy
  • Coordinate with shipping office or supervisors to prioritize daily shipments
  • Load and stage shipments for carrier pickup
  • Inspect finished goods prior to shipment to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Maintain inventory of packaging materials and notify leadership of shortages
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of tools and equipment
  • Keep shipping and staging areas clean and organized
  • Assist with cycle counts, inventory movement, or material handling as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2 years of experience in shipping, warehouse, or manufacturing environment is required
  • 2-3 years of experience in shipping, warehouse, or manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience with LTL and parcel shipping processes strongly preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret packing instructions, work orders, and shipping documents
  • Basic computer skills; experience with shipping systems or ERP (SAP a plus)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs (occasionally more with assistance)
  • Frequent standing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift
  • Ability to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or other material handling equipment (if certified)

Preferred Skills

  • Experience building crates or custom packaging solutions
  • Familiarity with freight class, dimensions, and shipping cost impacts
  • Knowledge of basic carrier requirements for LTL and parcel shipments
