Description
The Infrastructure Engineering team is looking for a Licensed Architect to work within the Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) organization and help drive the development of Gigafactory Nevada. The team is responsible for developing factory designs which support seamless integration between production, material flow, construction, and facilities teams. Through a detailed understanding of the high-level factory objectives and extensive collaboration with the internal and external teams designing individual factory components, this team ensures that the factory design as whole achieves all of Tesla's objectives.
Develop architectural concepts and designs across various project types, producing detailed drawings, plans, and models using 3D BIM software throughout all project phases-from concept to construction execution
Collaborate with design teams, factory leadership, consultants, contractors, vendors, and factory stakeholders to ensure the successful integration of project objectives, particularly in factory layouts and space optimization
Lead design coordination by working closely with design managers on project package structures, conducting field walks, and gathering stakeholder input
Establish strong relationships with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), developing and documenting permit exemption lists, AM&Ms, variances, and facilitating permitting processes with local officials
Lead site master planning efforts by developing and updating master plans, conceptualizing future factory needs, gathering feedback from key stakeholders, and ensuring alignment with company objectives
Advocate for innovative future concepts by showcasing them to relevant teams, gathering feedback, and incorporating input from operations, facilities, and manufacturing departments
Develop process improvements / workflows / templates to increase design productivity; and increase quality through construction observation and administration
Degree in Architecture, Industrial Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
Licensed Architect in Nevada (or ability to transfer credentials to NV within 1 month of start); mentor and promote licensure of junior staff including signing off NCARB hours
Proficiency in 2D and 3D software, especially AutoCAD and Revit, with knowledge of rendering tools like Enscape, SketchUp, 3D Studio, Illustrator, and Photoshop, being an asset
Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, construction documentation, detailing, and various project delivery methods, with relevant experience in sectors like manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, food processing, or warehousing, being an asset
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple large projects and teams under pressure, meeting deadlines while solving complex design and construction challenges
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders while managing conflict
Experience in construction administration, ensuring quality control, problem-solving, and design solutions through all phases of a project
