As a Major Case Investigator on the Tesla Insurance Special Investigations Unit (SIU), you will use some of the most comprehensive technology available, including Tesla vehicle data, analytics, and AI tools, to identify potential risks and combat fraudulent practices. You will analyze highly complex technical information with minimum oversight to identify and lead major case investigations for potential for litigation. These investigations commonly involve organized fraud rings, staged accidents, large losses, and medical facility fraud. You will protect the integrity of Tesla Insurance by driving resolution of high-impact fraud and complex claims matters in a fast-paced, innovative environment while partnering closely with our data analysts, claims leaders, legal counsel, the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), and law enforcement agencies.

Apply critical thinking techniques to prioritize and develop investigations involving complex allegations and/or significant financial impact across multiple claims, lines of business (with focus on auto/insurance products), and potentially multiple states
Provide exceptional customer service and partnership to internal business partners (claims, underwriting, legal, data teams) by maintaining contact, providing information and updates, conducting technical training, and identifying trends throughout the investigation lifecycle
Work collaboratively with Legal Counsel, the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), and law enforcement agencies; establish and maintain a liaison network with public officials, regulatory bodies, and other external parties to obtain assistance in conducting investigations
Deliver presentations, demonstrations, and briefings of investigative findings and intelligence to Legal, leadership, NICB, law enforcement, and other stakeholders
Apply local, state, and federal statutes and regulations to ensure all investigations are conducted in full compliance with applicable law and Tesla Insurance expectations
Adapt quickly to new technology implementations, system upgrades, digital tool rollouts, and AI advancements while maintaining high productivity and service quality
3+ years of investigative experience or 3+ years of insurance claim, underwriting, or legal-related experience
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Experience developing complex cases for affirmative litigation
Expert knowledge and understanding of fraud investigations, legal concepts, case law, and medical terminology
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex technical information, facts, vehicle/data analytics, and apply critical techniques throughout the investigative process
Proven ability to work independently, make sound decisions, establish significant facts, and preserve material that leads to successful investigation resolution
Working knowledge of insurance and claims operations, with preference for Personal Lines auto insurance, Commercial Lines, and related products; familiarity with EV/connected vehicle data or insurance tech is a plus
