Job Title: Sr Software Eng, Platform
- Duration: 3 months
- Location: Remote
Job description:
This role is software-development-focused: designing and building the services, APIs, and application logic that run on top of that infrastructure.
This is a senior individual-contributor role reporting to the CTO and team. The team is in a greenfield build phase, and this hire will help set the software engineering bar - code quality, API design, and use of AI-assisted development - from the outset.
Responsibilities
- Build platform services end to end: design, implement, and operate backend services and APIs (e.g., the AI Gateway, agent skill packs, and developer-metrics tooling) as production-grade, self-service capabilities that operating-company engineers can adopt with minimal friction.
- Practice AI-first delivery daily: use agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, or similar) as a core part of the development workflow, and help define the best practices and guardrails other engineers will follow as these tools scale across the organization.
- Integrate with the platform's infrastructure: build services that run cleanly on the AWS/Kubernetes foundation, coordinating with the platform's infrastructure engineers without needing to own that layer directly.
- Own reliability and quality for the services you build: define SLIs and SLOs, instrument observability, participate in incident response, and design security and cost in from the start.
- Contribute to architecture and standards: help turn the Architecture Council's engineering standards into executable guidance through code review, reference implementations, and mentorship.
Qualifications
Required:
- 8+ years in software engineering, with meaningful production experience building and operating services consumed by multiple teams.
- Software engineering (primary focus). An excellent engineer with strong design sensibility (API contracts, clean abstractions, separation of concerns) who builds production services as durable products.
- Hands-on, professional production experience in Go. This is a hard requirement for the role.
- AI-first delivery. Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development and agentic coding workflows (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar), comfortable shaping how these tools change delivery, code quality, and team practice.
- Cloud engineering (working knowledge only). Comfortable building and deploying services on AWS and Kubernetes; deep infrastructure ownership is explicitly out of scope for this role - two dedicated platform/infrastructure engineers own that layer.
- Hands-on CI/CD and GitOps experience - building and operating the pipelines that ship your own services safely and quickly.
- Site reliability engineering. Working experience with SLIs/SLOs, observability, incident response, and toil reduction through automation for the services you own.
- Platform security. Working knowledge of cloud-native security fundamentals (IAM, OAuth/OIDC, secrets and workload identity, policy-as-code) sufficient to build secure-by-default services.
- Architecture and standards stewardship. A track record of writing code and designs that other engineers can adopt as a reference, and of turning standards into working examples rather than documentation alone.
