SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT - DEVOPS CLOUD MODERNIZATION
ONSITE /HYBRID, OMAHA, NE

The Solution Architect (SA) is a high-level strategic leader responsible for driving the modernization of an exceptionally large, diverse enterprise application portfolio. This environment spans a complex mix of custom-built, vendor-supported, and SaaS applications.
In this role, you will lead engineering teams through high-impact technical designs, steering over 80 directly assigned annual work requests from concept to deployment. Rather than writing code daily, your focus will be purely strategic: building technology roadmaps, calculating infrastructure costs, and championing advanced DevOps, automation, and containerization initiatives across the corporate ecosystem.

Current Environment & Core Initiatives
Our technical ecosystem is expansive and rapidly evolving. The incoming architect will actively navigate and mature:
  • Diverse Software Architecture: An enterprise portfolio combining legacy custom-built platforms, vendor-hosted systems, and modern SaaS products.
  • Automation & CI/CD Pipelines: Deep integration and scaling of tools like Ansible, Jenkins, and Artifactory.
  • Modernization Priorities: Intense organizational focus on large-scale cloud adoption, containerization, and mature DevOps frameworks.
  • Lifecycle Management: Designing and establishing highly optimized, frictionless patching and system upgrade processes.
  • Strategic Focus: Active dedication to core platform stability and infrastructure transformation.

Position-Specific Responsibilities & Accountabilities
1. Advanced Solution Design
  • Translate Strategy: Partner closely with business leaders to transform high-level requirements into robust, future-proof technical architectures.
  • Architect End-to-End: Design holistic systems that harmonize software, hardware, security, performance, and lifecycle management.
  • High-Volume Execution: Seamlessly govern, prioritize, and architect solutions for approximately 87 team-impacting annual work requests.
  • Map the Future: Collaborate with peer architects to build technical roadmaps and system standards that match long-term corporate growth.

2. Stack Evaluation & Documentation
  • Create Blueprints: Author crystal-clear technical specifications, architectural diagrams, and system design documents.
  • Curate Technology: Evaluate and select modern platforms, tools, and vendor products that fit current capabilities and future needs.
  • Drive Innovation: Maintain deep industry awareness regarding emerging technologies to keep our digital ecosystem modern.

3. Unified Collaboration & Business Acumen
  • Bridge Ecosystems: Serve as the central technical liaison between business units, vendors, project managers, and engineering teams.
  • Influence Stakeholders: Leverage strong business acumen to communicate technical strategies clearly to non-technical executive teams.
  • Manage Vendor & Fiscal Health: Help lead vendor relationships, RFP/RFI processes, project scoping, and detailed annual budget/cost estimations.
  • Cultivate Talent: Act as a dedicated mentor to grow the technical skills of junior architects and engineers.

4. Technical Governance
  • Enforce Compliance: Guard technical integrity by ensuring all designs meet internal security policies and software engineering standards.
  • Lead Oversight Boards: Facilitate architecture review sessions to manage risks and streamline planning phases.
  • Guarantee Quality: Audit active projects to ensure final deliverables achieve critical non-functional requirements like uptime, scalability, and usability.

5. Core Organizational Responsibilities
Safety Culture
  • Champion Well-being: Promote and embed a proactive, safety-first mindset across your entire scope of influence.
  • Establish Standards: Oversee the creation, implementation, and continuous improvement of functional safety guidelines.
Regulatory Compliance
  • Maintain Oversight: Stay deeply informed on all company policies, alongside relevant Federal and State statutory regulations.
  • Design Controls: Build robust internal governance workflows to ensure operations never clash with legislative mandates.
Change Management & Communication
  • Deliver Clarity: Create and roll out structured communication plans that clarify complex technical or operational shifts.
  • Drive Adoption: Guide teams through transitions to ensure seamless buy-in for new workflows and architectural standards.
Continuous Improvement
  • Optimize Operations: Actively research and deploy modern methodologies to boost functional efficiency and eliminate friction.
  • Foster Innovation: Cultivate a workplace climate where team members are motivated to identify and execute system upgrades.
Financial Stewardship
  • Manage Budgets: Exercise strategic ownership over your assigned financial portfolio, checking for variance to plan.
  • Maximize ROI: Align all spending—including talent growth, capital expenditures, and technical assets—with long-term goals.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Build Partnerships: Define clear Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and working relationships across internal business boundaries.
  • Align Priorities: Work lockstep with peers and executive leaders to remove silos and harmonize inter-departmental goals.

7. Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)
  • Mitigate Exposure: Actively manage risks by maintaining thorough ERM records and deploying smart defensive strategies.
  • Monitor Threats: Keep a watchful eye on the operational horizon to catch and address emerging risk factors early.

8. Operational Flexibility
Adapt Dynamically: Maintain a flexible approach to duties, executing evolving tasks as requested by business leadership.
