Job Description

Oversee the day to day schedule of patients in the respective department. Be the Subject Matter Expert for the department on aspects including, but not limited to, schedules, accreditation, day to day operations, and competencies. Also perform all clinical aspects of the performance as a sonographer in the specific field of expertise.

Responsibilities

PATIENT POPULATION - (CLINICAL ONLY):

Engages in population appropriate communication. Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks. Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment. Involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment and continuing care of the patient. Identifies any physical limitations of the patient and deploys intervention when necessary. Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems. Interprets population related data and plans care appropriately. Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious / cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely. Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.

Perform all aspects of the Sonography specialty area which includes reviewing for appropriateness, completeness of patient histories, completing exam to charging. Explains procedures to patients.

Oversees the schedule of the particular area/department/modality and optimizes the use of equipment and staff to most effectively serve patients and physicians.

Provides first line resolution of patient scheduling and employee relations problems.

Provides line staff with communication and develops and maintains the technologists' skill in procedures.

Provides input for the performance evaluation for the area's employees.

Orders supplies and verifies the area is adequately stocked for daily operation.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Required: Graduate of an ultrasonography program or completion of an appropriate education pathway.
  • Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Ultrasonography, Radiology, Biological Sciences or a relevant health science field.
  • Current BLS Certification. ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) or ARRT: Specific certifications: dependent on actual department.
  • For Diagnostic Sonography: AB or OB/GYN or ARRT (S). | Minimum Required: 3 - 5 Years equivalent experience. Preferred: 6-10 Years equivalent experience.
