Sr. Staff Accountant

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a well-established organization in North County San Diego to identify a Sr. Staff Accountant to join their growing finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys owning the accounting process, working independently, and contributing across financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and operational accounting functions.

The ideal candidate will have strong full-cycle accounting experience, a solid understanding of GAAP, and the ability to manage month-end close activities with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle general ledger accounting activities

  • Perform month-end and year-end close processes

  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries

  • Complete bank and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and supporting schedules

  • Assist with budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis

  • Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures

  • Analyze revenue and expense activity and ensure proper account classifications

  • Support external audits and provide required financial documentation

  • Track grant expenditures and assist with compliance reporting

  • Prepare financial, statistical, and management reports

  • Partner with leadership on financial and operational initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred (relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree)

  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience

  • Strong full-cycle accounting experience

  • Experience managing month-end close with limited supervision

  • Financial statement preparation experience

  • Knowledge of budgeting and internal controls

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Pay Details: $70,000.00 to $80,000.00 per year
