Job Summary
This position is part of the Geotechnical Specialists Team and is responsible for leading and executing seismic reprocessing projects with specialist vendors in support of Murphy''s global exploration portfolio. The Senior Staff Geophysicist will have a proven track record of seismic processing across a variety of global basins and petroleum systems, with expertise in the deepwater Gulf of America. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and quality control for both operated and non-operated seismic processing projects, working closely with asset teams and processing contractors from project scoping through execution. The role is responsible for delivering high-quality seismic products on schedule while ensuring the incorporation of best-in-class processing technologies.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with conventional seismic processing workflows as well as modern FDR/FWIR Full Waveform Imaging Reflectivity techniques for both streamer and ocean-bottom node (OBN) datasets in complex salt environments. Experience with 4D seismic processing and Elastic FWIR is required. Experience with seismic inversion and AVO analysis is highly desirable as part of the broader exploration workflow. Candidates should have a working knowledge of software packages such as Hampson-Russell, RokDoc, or DUG Insight for AVO and rock physics analysis.
A broader understanding of the exploration workflow, including seismic interpretation, structural and stratigraphic mapping, lead identification, prospect evaluation, and prospect maturation, is also advantageous.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a collaborative, team-first mindset who is comfortable managing multiple concurrent seismic processing projects in a fast-paced exploration environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively engage with multidisciplinary teams and external vendors are essential.
