Employees in this position generally assist the head nurse in the supervision of other clinic personnel and may substitute for this person in the event of his/her absence. May supervise and instruct subordinate nursing personnel. Receives supervision from head nurse or physician, functions independently within guidelines. May supervise ancillary nursing personnel in the performance of certain tasks, and assists in training personnel. Reports data, identifies and reports alterations in patient responses to assist in the identification of problems and formulation of goals/outcomes and patient-centered plans of care in collaboration with patients, their families and the interdisciplinary health care team.
Assists in determining the physical and mental health status, needs, and preferences of culturally, ethnically, and socially diverse patients and their families.
Takes and records accurate vital signs and measurements.
Assists with or performs exams and procedures and documents intervention in EMR.
Participates in the identification of patient needs for referral to resources and facilitates continuity of care.
Attends Nursing staff meetings.
Participates in emergency preparedness drills in the department.
Implements teaching plans for patients and their families with health learning needs.
Communicates patient data via the EMR to support decision-making and improve patient care.
Communicates with patients via telephone per clinic protocols.
Prepares and operates necessary equipment and instruments for examinations, treatments and procedures.
Sterilizes and disinfects medical equipment.
Stocks and inspects the inventory of supplies in examination and treatment rooms.
Attends nurse power hours and mandatory training to maintain materials and competency.
Administers medications and manages refill requests.
Completes FMLA, leave of absence, death certificates and all other paperwork needed by patients and outside entities.
Supervise LVN & CMA staff at the Pavilion and GE locations daily, to include but not limited to: daily schedule, time sheet approval and annual performance evaluation preparation and completion and any other supervisory duties as delegated by the Director of Nursing for the OB/Gyn Dept.
Contribute to KPIs as appropriate for job functions.
Manages requests for time off for the Pavilion, CPM, and GE and will fill in at any/all clinics when needed.
Performs fetal non-stress test on obstetrical patients.
Trains and orients new hires, and all other duties assigned by the supervisor.
