At Amazon, we work every day to be the most Customer-centric company on earth. To do this the Sub Same Day team is constantly bringing new and exciting delivery products, customer selection, and exceptionally fast delivery speeds to new and existing Customers. To offer these products at a low cost, we are building one of the worlds fastest and most efficient supply chain networks. The Sub Same Day team is seeking a Sr Supply Chain Manager who will own projects to improve network performance for customer facing quality metrics (i.e. Concessions).

We are looking for a dynamic, self-starter, who will learn quickly and thrives in an ambiguous environment. As a Sr Supply Chain Manager you will be responsible for building our roadmap to improve SSD Operations Concessions performance, drive process, program, and policy change across the organization, and report on performance versus business goals.

Key job responsibilities

  • Thrive in an environment of ambiguity, managing and coordinating multiple project assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, accepting ownership and accountability of the process and delivering on commitments
  • Understand Amazon supply chain technology systems, people, and process at a level of depth required to lead new or existing programs
  • Collaborate and lead internal business units including supply chain colleagues, deliver experience product, field operations, transportation, finance, research, science, technology, and engineering teams to effectively integrate new store concepts and delivery products
  • Mine data quickly and efficiently to develop creative solutions to emerging customer problems and appropriate supply chain metrics to measure new product success
  • Create detailed reports and process improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and quality of execution
  • Communicate effectively both written and verbally with both external customers (Service Providers, Carriers, Vendors) and internal customers (Finance, Technology, Site Leadership, Linehaul providers, etc)
  • Communicate goals, roles, responsibilities and desired outcomes to cross-functional project teams to gain buy-in and delivery to project schedules
  • Work within time constraints; problem solve, remove barriers, and coordinate with stakeholders

A day in the life A day includes solving complex problems for our customers by maintaining a close connection to input and outcome metrics across multiple lines of business and by driving alignment across stakeholders to deliver results. By distilling key insights, this individual will organize the team programmatically and lead cross functional projects to completion. You will partner very heavily with Business Intelligence, FC operations, Amazon Flex, and Customer Service. This individual should excel at: analyzing complex data, dealing with ambiguity, delivering results, earning trust, demonstrating a willingness to solve problems, and thinking about both short- and long- term solutions.

About the team The team is in a rapid growth phase both with our existing business and the weekly addition of new selections and product line delivery options. With this growth comes a fast pace environment where problems and corresponding solutions have a cycle time of 24 hours. The environment represents a start up with the administrative systems and mechanisms that come with a large corporation.

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
