Sr. System Architect: Key Responsibilities Conceptual-to-Technical Bridge: Act as the primary translator between Enterprise Architecture strategy and engineering delivery. Define detailed specifications for microservices, integration patterns, and cloud-native architectures. Modernization Leadership: Lead the technical design for replacing legacy Rail Transportation systems (Mainframe/TPF) with modern Java and Spring-based microservices using event-driven architecture (EDA). API & Integration Strategy: Design and govern robust API contracts and integration patterns that facilitate seamless communication across heterogeneous systems and multi-domain business environments. Engineering Oversight: Maintain a broad understanding of the full engineering lifecycle. Partner with development teams to ensure architectural integrity during implementation, focusing on reusability, scalability, and performance. Framework Implementation: Apply industry-standard frameworks, including TOGAF, BizBok, and DAMA (DMBok), to ensure that application designs are grounded in enterprise-wide data and business standards. Agile Governance: Practice and provide architectural leadership within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment, ensuring technical designs support rapid, iterative delivery and continuous integration. Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned): Demonstrated knowledge of EA Frameworks, Methodologies, and Bodies of Knowledge TOGAF, Business Architecture Guild (BizBok) and DAMA (DMBok) a plus. Well-grounded in state-of-the-art principles of architectural modeling, event-driven architecture, enterprise information management, and software design and development. Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of large-scale Rail Transportation system modernization in an enterprise setting. Broad IT experience in technologies ranging from IBM Mainframe & TPF to Java and Spring-based microservices in event-driven system architectures. Demonstrated success at delivering solutions that solve multi-domain business problems. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree, specialized training, or equivalent work experience. Requires fifteen+ years of experience in multiple IT areas and ten+ years of relevant technology architecture experience. Experience defining and implementing solutions for rail transportation companies is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 5 years+ knowledge of and practicing experience with SAFe. ***Lumen and / or its clients will not provide equipment (Laptop, monitor, etc.) to the selected contractor.
