Job Description

An employer in the Greater Seattle Washington area is looking for a Hybrid Senior Systems Engineer who will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and scalability of critical infrastructure systems and SaaS platforms. This role includes managing infrastructure lifecyclesparticularly for compute, storage, and VMwareand executing infrastructure lifts and end-of-life transitions. The engineer will support large-scale upgrades across global environments, with a focus on cloud technologies such as Azure and AWS, and lead technical transformations including on-prem to cloud migrations with an emphasis on automation. Day-to-day responsibilities include handling tickets and incidents related to infrastructure outages or lifecycle transitions, building and deploying scalable solutions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to design robust system architectures. The role operates in PST hours, with an India-based team, and includes participation in an on-call rotation every fourth or fifth week. Strong intangibles, a proactive attitude, and a solution-oriented mindset are essential for success.

Skills and Requirements

8+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, or a similar role in a technology-based environment.

8+ years in scripting languages.

7+ years of experience with collocated/hosted datacenter management (hardware, racks, power, connectivity, etc.).

7+ years of hands-on experience with technology systems tools, protocols, and platforms.

Excellent hands-on experience and skills with virtualized infrastructure hosting platforms, server-based operating systems, applications, and general IT infrastructure operations.

7+ years of experience in working with technology systems including cloud platforms, SaaS platforms, containerization, and orchestration.

6+ years of hands-on experience with Cisco USC

6+ years of experience with UNIX and Linux operating systems

6+ years of hands-on experience with Hypervisor

6+ years of enterprise-level engineering experience.

Proficient familiarity with IT compliance protocols (SOX, NIST, ISO, etc.)

Familiarity with Azure DevOps and/or Jira for tracking deliverables

Familiarity with Jira (or similar) for tracking deliverables

Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.

Experience with observability tooling including logging infrastructure, tracing systems, alert definitions, etc.

Proficient communication, planning, problem solving, trouble shooting, and organization skills.

College degree in technology-based disciplines, or equivalent applicable experience. Experience with automation
