Sr. Tax Manager – Customs, Trade, Tariff

Responsibilities:

Please note this is a Hybrid working opportunity of our Billerica, MA offices requring two days per week onsite presence.  

 

New opportunity based in Billerica, MA for Senior Tax Manager of Customs, Trade and Tariff to lead customs compliance and tariff strategy across the America’s import/ export operations. Will ensure regulatory compliance, manage trade-related risk, and identify practical opportunities to reduce duty costs and improve supply chain efficiency through classification, valuation, origin planning, duty recovery, and preferential trade programs.

• Lead customs and trade compliance programs, including import/export controls, documentation, recordkeeping, and internal controls.
• Oversee HTS classification, country-of-origin analysis, customs valuation, and related compliance reviews.
• Develop and execute tariff mitigation strategies, including duty drawbacks, FTZs, First Sale for Export, cost unbundling, Chapter 98, and temporary import programs.
• Partner with Tax, Transfer Pricing, Supply Chain, Procurement, Legal, Logistics, and Operations to align trade tax strategy with business objectives.
• Monitor tariff, sanctions, and trade regulatory developments and communicate business impacts to leadership.
• Support customs audits, regulatory inquiries, voluntary disclosures, year-end tariff reconciliation and corrective action plans.
• Build trade compliance policies, procedures, dashboards, training, and governance processes to reduce risk and improve transparency.
• Manage external advisors, and other trade service providers to ensure quality, accountability, and cost effectiveness.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in accounting or Tax with focus on International Business, Supply Chain, Law required.
• CPA, JD in Taxation, Licensed Customs Broker, and related trade certification strongly preferred.
• Minimum 10 years’ recent and progressive hands-on work experience in customs, global trade, tariff management, trade compliance required.
• Work experience in multi-national life sciences manufacturing, technology, or industrial products preferred.
• Strong knowledge of CBP regulations, HTS classification, customs valuation, origin rules, FTAs, and duty recovery programs required.
• Hands-on work experience with SAP/ERP systems, Power BI, trade automation tools, data analytics.
• Proven ability to manage audits, advisors, brokers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• English language fluency required, knowledge of additional languages desirable.
• Valid Driver License in good standing issued by resident state/ country required.
• Maintenance of a valid passport with flexibility for frequent overnight global travel.
• May be required to pass security clearance investigation.

At Bruker, the base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $126,450 and $200,000  and provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary for the role will depend on several job-related factors, including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge, and travel requirements for this position.
