AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all of AWS’ global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support AWS data centers globally including all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

The Global Network Delivery organization in AWS Infrastructure seeks a Sr. TiPM to support a global data center quality team. In this role you will drive best-in-class cabling quality in global data centers to help us achieve the best operating, lowest cost, infrastructure in the world. You will establish data, reporting, and metrics and drive the right quality outcomes by tracking cabling and hardware issues and breaking down problems into different categories and risk levels.

You will partner with a team of quality engineers across AMER, EMEA, and APAC whose responsibility is to see that all build, scaling, bricks, project cables, racks, and hardware installations are completed adhering to the correct guidelines. You will support this team by establishing the standard tool that will be used by the engineers to collect all defect data. You will provide business requirements to Business Intelligence Engineers to develop the right dashboards and reports. You should establish standard mechanisms and metrics globally. You will partner with the network fiber engineering team to establish quality KPIs for each product type. Through your expertise, you will define what quality means to data centers by developing a quality risk scorecard, aligning on the KPIs and metrics definitions, and ensuring the output can be reviewed in weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews.

The ideal candidate possesses strong program and project management skills, experience managing complex and large-scale technology projects (including cost, schedule and performance for portfolios, programs, or individual projects), a proven track record of developing and/or improving processes and procedures, demonstrated excellence working with matrixed teams and influencing without authority, and ability to earn trust and deliver results quickly. Successful candidates are highly responsive and communicate effectively with technical teams to collect requirements and translate those to internal stakeholders to deliver results at scale. You must possess the ability to facilitate technical whiteboard sessions to troubleshoot project implementation issues and remove barriers to project success. You adeptly manage multiple competing projects simultaneously.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
