Description:You will join the Palmdale Fabrication and Assembly teams as the Manufacturing Support Team Member. This role supports the production of the iconic U 2 "Dragon Lady," helping the team meet aggressive production goals while driving communication excellence and continuous improvement initiatives across the PDM (Periodic Depot Maintenance) Center of Excellence.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Day to day Fabrication Support - Provide hands on assistance to keep the shop floor running smoothly.
  • Cross Level Issue Resolution - Interface with managers, engineers, quality, and the workforce to identify roadblocks and implement corrective actions.
  • Process Analysis & Improvement - Evaluate current workflows, recommend enhancements, and track results to boost efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration - Partner with production planning, quality management, engineering, and logistics on process optimization projects.
  • Lean & Continuous Improvement Leadership - Lead or support Kaizen events, value stream mapping, and other lean initiatives that reinforce a culture of innovative thinking.
  • Best Practice Application - Leverage prior manufacturing experience to streamline workflows, increase productivity, and support operational excellence throughout the U 2 program.
  • Travel Requirements - Be prepared for occasional travel to support depot maintenance sites, supplier facilities, or cross functional team meetings as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with fuel tank processes and PDM/manufacturing
  • Proven experience in a maintenance, production, or parts fabrication setting with high tempo operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook, and other standard computer systems.
  • Experience working across multiple departments (e.g., Engineering, Quality, Industrial and DOD) to investigate and resolve production or quality issues.
  • Ability to interpret engineering, planning, and departmental documentation accurately.

Desired Skills:

3-5 years experience Professional work experience with Aero Industry

  • 5+ years in assembly/fabrication operations, preferably on aerospace platforms.
  • Hands on experience with STK, SFM, and Apriso (or equivalent PDM/ERP tools).
  • Strong coaching/teaching capabilities for assembly process requirements.
  • Deep knowledge of lean principles, Kaizen, and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with a proven track record of delivering clear, compelling briefings to diverse audiences.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $73,800 - $130,180. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $84,900 - $147,085. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
