This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who combines deep craft expertise with the ability to build cohesive, scalable design infrastructure across a modernized healthcare web ecosystem. You'll manage a small, talented team of designers and partner closely with product, developers, IT and clinical stakeholders to ensure every experience and journey we build is accessible, intuitive, and trustworthy to improve site engagement.

Success in this role over the next 12-18 months will include creating a more modernized Davita.com experience, launching a new design system and implementing improved processes to uplevel the team as a strategic planning partner.

Design Systems & Platform:

  • Lead the modernization of the Davita.com site UX/UI including developing new standards, templates and best practices.
  • Act as the voice of our users to simplify priority segment journeys, increase message engagement and deliver on priority site KPIs.
  • Evolve site design planning from singular landing pages to persona based guided customer journeys prioritizing the next best action.
  • Own and evolve the company's design system, including component libraries, tokens, interaction patterns, and documentation
  • Drive consistency and scalability across web experiences by establishing clear standards and governance for design system adoption
  • Partner with product, development and IT teams to ensure templates and components are implemented accurately and maintained over time
  • Educate agency and other creative partners on web standards and capabilities, and act as governance to ensure new campaigns ladder up to site and brand best practices
  • Advocate for accessibility (WCAG compliance) as a foundational standard across all platform experiences

Team Leadership:

  • Manage and mentor a team of 3 UX/UI designers, supporting their professional growth and day-to-day output
  • Uplevel the team from day-to-day execution to strategic product-minded designers, ensuring new experiences meet our more modern and curated site experience
  • Educate cross functional partners on team expertise and process to improve partnerships and project outcomes
  • Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive team culture grounded in curiosity and continuous improvement

Cross-Functional Partnership:

  • Work closely with product managers, developers, and clinical/compliance teams to align design decisions with healthcare regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, FDA guidelines where applicable)
  • Communicate design system strategy and roadmap to senior leadership and cross-functional partners
  • Champion the voice of the user through research insights, usability testing, and data-informed iteration

Requirements

  • 7+ years of UX/UI design experience, with at least 2 years in a people management role
  • Demonstrated experience building or scaling a design system in a complex web environment
  • Strong proficiency in Figma (or equivalent), including component architecture, variables/tokens, and library management
  • Deep understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on design contributions when needed
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills - you can translate design rationale for both technical and non-technical audiences

Preference For:

  • Experience working in or alongside healthcare, health tech, or other regulated industries is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with EHR integrations, clinical workflows, or patient-facing digital health web experiences
