Title: Senior Workday Engineer, HCM

We are seeking a Senior Workday Engineer to strengthen and enhance our HCM platform. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone with deep Workday expertise who can independently own complex technical work from design through delivery.
The ideal candidate combines strong Workday configuration and integration experience with custom software development skills in Java and/or Python. We are also looking for someone who embraces AI-assisted development and automation to improve engineering efficiency, accelerate delivery, and reduce manual processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, develop, enhance, and maintain solutions across the Workday HCM platform.
- Design, build, and support Workday integrations using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, web services, and related integration technologies.
- Build custom applications and solutions using Workday Extend.
- Develop custom integrations, applications, and automation that extend Workday capabilities and reduce manual effort.
- Use AI-assisted development tools, LLMs, and agentic workflows to accelerate development and identify opportunities for automation.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and follow established software engineering and SDLC best practices.
- Troubleshoot complex Workday configuration, integration, and application issues.
- Translate ambiguous business or technical requirements into scalable solutions.
- Own technical work end to end with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with business and engineering partners.
- Contribute to engineering standards, technical design decisions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Several years of hands-on Workday engineering experience, including ownership of complex solutions from design through implementation.
- Strong production experience with Workday HCM configuration and integrations.
- Hands-on experience designing and developing integrations using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, and web services.
- Experience with Workday Extend and building custom applications on the Workday platform.
- Strong problem-solving and technical judgment with the ability to independently recommend and implement solutions.
- Ability to work effectively in an environment where requirements may initially be ambiguous or evolving.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on software development experience with Java and/or Python, including delivering custom solutions end to end.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools as part of day-to-day engineering workflows.
- Demonstrated interest in applying AI and automation to improve development processes and eliminate repetitive work.
- Experience integrating Workday with custom applications, APIs, or enterprise systems.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Workday AI capabilities, AI Gateway, or related Workday AI functionality.
- AWS or other cloud platform experience.
- Experience with automated testing and test frameworks.
- CI/CD pipeline experience.
- Familiarity with modern software engineering, DevOps, and release-management practices.
