Are you passionate about transforming how the Oil & Gas, and Energy industry leverages high-performance computing on AWS to solve its most complex exploration, production, and sustainability challenges? Do you have technical expertise in energy workflows-such as seismic processing, reservoir simulation, with the business acumen, go-to-market experience to drive cloud adoption at scale?

This position is part of the AWS Specialist and Partner Organization (ASP). Specialists own the end-to-end go-to-market strategy for their respective technology domains, providing the business and technical expertise to help our customers succeed. Join the Advanced Computing team as a Business Development Specialist focused on HPC Energy Workloads. This role is at the forefront of helping energy companies modernize their computational geoscience, reservoir engineering, and production optimization workflows by migrating mission-critical HPC workloads to AWS.

Key job responsibilities

You will work with leading integrated oil companies and energy technology providers to optimize, and scale their most demanding compute-intensive workflows on AWS infrastructure. You will lead the WW go-to-market strategy for HPC Energy workloads, working directly with customers to understand their computational infrastructure needs, demonstrate the value of AWS cloud and help them transition from on-premises HPC to AWS. Internally, you will partner with AWS service teams (EC2, PCS Batch, FSx for Lustre, and others), marketing, professional services, partner teams, and sales leadership to influence roadmaps, ensure alignment, and execution. Your work will span from technical deep-dives to capacity planning with AWS teams, to presentations at industry conferences (e.g EAGE, Rice Oil & Gas, and others). You will be the bridge between the energy industry"s most complex computational challenges and AWS"s most advanced cloud infrastructure capabilities.

You are a leader for specialists, architects, partners, around the world, setting direction and standards for how AWS approaches energy HPC workload migrations. You bring the voice of the customer into our product development roadmap and help AWS and its customers navigate the transition from traditional on-premises HPC environments to cloud-native energy computing workflows.

Within WWSO, the HPC team is part of the Compute & Advanced Computing Specialist team that focuses on architectures and solutions to orchestrate and scale the most demanding compute-constrained customer workloads and use cases, with particular emphasis on energy workloads.

Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
