What We Want
The SRS Research Administrator I pre-award is responsible for research proposal preparation and submission; providing support to researchers in the preparation and submission of standard research proposals which includes determining the sponsor's requirements; and preparing budgets and forms according to the guidelines established by The Texas A&M University System, Federal Cost Accounting Standards and sponsor guidelines.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
No prior experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field.
Two years of related experience in accounting at a university or business environment developing budget.
Research administration experience with Texas A&M System or other university systems.
Experience in pre-award sponsored research administration.
Knowledge of Federal grant and contract regulations and practical application of current research administration issues.
Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
Proficient in creating and manipulating spreadsheets, word processing and database software systems.
Experience in providing customer service.
Experience in developing budgets.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Experience using word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Responsibilities
Proposal Preparation and Coordination - Provides support to researchers in the preparation of standard proposals, which includes determining the sponsor's requirements and preparing budgets and forms according to the guidelines established by Texas A&M University, Office of Management and Budget Circulars, Federal Cost Accounting Standards and sponsor guidelines. Prepares supplementary proposal documents, under moderate supervision, and ensures proposals are complete before forwarding to the sponsor. Prepares proposal revisions and responds to requests related to proposal submissions. Coordinates with researchers, department/unit heads, deans, directors and staff to resolve proposal issues and provides information as requested.
Proposal Review and Compliance - Reviews standard proposals for compliance issues.
Reviews program announcements and, with moderate direction, determines pertinent proposal requirements. Communicate guidelines and proposal requirements to Principal Investigators. Acquires basic knowledge of human subjects, animal subjects, Recombinant DNA, Export Controls, etc.
Proposal Submission - Provides support to researchers in the submission of proposals. Enters proposal information into required submission systems (i.e., Grants.gov, etc.) and financial systems.
