Stacker Operator

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-minded Stacker Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that corrugated sheets coming off the stacker are properly identified, tagged, and meet our customers’ exact quality specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Production & Quality Control: Monitor corrugated sheets coming off the stackers to ensure they meet customer size, paper, and quality specifications.
• Material Handling: Ensure the correct number of sheets are in each unit and place bottom dunnage under units to protect products during transport.
• Inventory Tracking: Scan roll stock into the computer system from arrival to consumption, and place identification tags (size, grade, lineal feet) on all rolls.
• Team Communication: Maintain constant radio communication with Dry End and Wet End operators to keep production running smoothly at maximum speeds with minimal waste.
• Safety & Maintenance: Adhere to all safety rules, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, and wear proper PPE (including gloves). Maintain a clean and safe machine and work area.
• Flexibility: Assist in other areas of the facility and serve on employee committees (such as the Safety Committee) as directed by supervisors.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical Skills: Basic working knowledge of computers for tracking and inventory purposes.
• Communication: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively via radio and in person.
• Cognitive Skills: Ability to work efficiently under deadlines, accurately gauge time/distance, quickly recall instructions, and respond rapidly to changing plant conditions.
• Reliability: Dependable attendance with the flexibility to work varying start/finish times, including overtime.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, push, pull, and stand for long periods on the production floor.
• Dexterity & Mobility: Manual dexterity for fine hand manipulation, ability to work with arms extended/above shoulder height, and ability to safely navigate stairs and uneven plant floors.
• Sensory: Visual acuity, color differentiation, and the ability to hear instructions/warnings in a loud environment.
• Environment: Comfortable working in a bustling manufacturing setting with exposure to moving machinery, loud noises, and paper dust. Safe handling of sharp tools (box cutters, knives) is required.
