Job DetailsPosition Overview
We're seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant / Accounts Payable Professional with construction accounting experience to join our growing finance team. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate project financials while supporting project managers, field teams, vendors, and executive leadership.
The ideal candidate has experience in construction or project accounting, understands job costing, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and organization are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the full-cycle accounts payable process
- Review and process subcontractor payment applications
- Verify invoice accuracy, coding, approvals, and compliance documentation
- Maintain vendor files, including W-9s, insurance certificates, and lien waivers
- Coordinate weekly payment processing, including checks, wires, and EFTs
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve payment discrepancies
- Generate and analyze job cost reports for project teams
- Support project financial tracking, commitments, and cost forecasting
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
- Assist with month-end close and financial statement preparation
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and supporting schedules
- Help improve accounting processes, reporting, and ERP utilization
- Collaborate with project managers, executives, and accounting leadership to support financial performance
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of construction accounting or project accounting experience required
- Experience with accounts payable, job costing, and project financial reporting
- Understanding of subcontractor payment applications, lien waivers, and vendor compliance
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Experience with construction ERP/accounting software (Sage 300 experience is a plus)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment
