Staff Accountant - Accounts PayableCompany DescriptionThe Boys & Girls Club of Paterson and Passaic aims to inspire and enable young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their potential as responsible, caring citizens. The organization offers a safe after-school environment for children aged 5 to 18, including a summer day camp. Professional staff and volunteers deliver a wide range of educational, social, and recreational programs.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time on-site role for a Staff Accountant - Accounts Payable, located in Paterson, NJ. The Staff Accountant - AP is responsible for processing and reconciling financial transactions, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and supporting payroll, procurement, and audit preparation. This role works closely with the finance team to maintain compliance with financial policies and reporting requirements.Accounts Payable & ReconciliationProcess, review, and reconcile accounts payable tasks , ensuring timely and accurate payments.Verify documentation and request disbursements as needed.Prepare and review bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy.Research and resolve financial discrepancies with vendors and internal teams.Payroll & Financial TransactionsProcess payroll and initiate quarterly payroll reconciliation to ensure compliance and accuracy.Reconcile financial transactions and review and maintain documentation on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis .Audit & Compliance SupportPrepare assigned audit schedules and respond to requests from auditors.Ensure financial documentation is properly maintained for audit readiness.Budgeting & ProcurementAssist in drafting annual budgets , providing financial data and insights as needed.Oversee procurement processes , reviewing and approving orders for compliance.Provide financial information as requested and assist in the preparation of reports.Support the finance team with ad-hoc financial tasks and projects .QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field .3+ years of accounting and bookkeeping experience .Strong knowledge of accounts payable, payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting .Experience in nonprofit or educational finance preferred .Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Proficiency in financial software (QuickBooks, Intacct, FundEZ, etc.) and Excel .Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and time management skills.Experience in a non-profit organization is a plus.Additional InformationSeniority Level : Mid-Senior levelEmployment Type : Full-timeJob Function : Accounting/AuditingIndustries : Non-profit OrganizationsLocation : Paterson, NJSalary : $55,000 - $60,000 per year#J-18808-Ljbffr
