About the Role: The Accountant is part of the Corporate accounting team with the primary responsibilities for bank reconciliations, AR and AP reconciliations, as well as other accounting requirements. This position interacts with various levels of financial and operational personnel both internally and externally, including banking representatives and auditors. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills are highly desired.
Annually Salary: $66,000-$82,000
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare cash bank reconciliations for approximately 80 U.S. accounts, including payroll, farebox, Imprest, petty cash, and other cash-related accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies.
Prepare and maintain detailed reconciliations for Accounts Receivable and Bad Debt Reserve accounts, ensuring all balances are accurate, complete, and supported by appropriate documentation.
Prepare and maintain Accounts Payable reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Prepare and take ownership of other Balance Sheet account reconciliations as assigned.
Collaborate with Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Controllers to resolve discrepancies identified in reconciliations on time.
Utilize various banking platforms to reconcile prior-day cash activity across all bank accounts daily.
Partner with the Treasury team to ensure all wires and ACH transactions are recorded in the correct accounting period.
Prepare necessary journal entries accurately and on time.
Support the month-end close process, ensuring reconciliations and financial information are completed and submitted for the appropriate reporting month.
Provide audit support by preparing documentation and responding to requests from internal and external auditors during control testing and annual financial statement audits.
Perform other accounting duties and special projects as assigned by management.
Education, Licensing, and Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required
Experience:
Two (2) to five (5) years recent experience in treasury/accounting
Skills and Knowledge Required:
Experience and knowledge using Bank of America CashPro and JP Morgan Chase banking platforms preferred
Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including but not limited to PIVOT tables and charts, LOOKUPs, INDEX and MATCH, SUMIF/S, and IF functions
Experience with a large-scale ERP system, such as J. D. Edwards is a plus
Excellent communication skills required (both verbal and written)
Must have a high degree of self-initiative with an ability to learn and tackle new challenges with minimal supervision
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities among several stakeholders to meet deadlines
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
