Staff Accountant
LHH is seeking a Staff Accountant to work in Suffolk County onsite. This can be a direct hire or temp to hire opportunity and can pay $75K. Client will also consider more entry level candidates who are willing to learn with advanced Excel skills and accounting degree.
Key Responsibilities
Record and post journal entries while ensuring accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
Support monthly and annual close processes, including account analysis and adjustments
Perform reconciliations across bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts, resolving discrepancies as needed
Provide support across accounts payable and accounts receivable functions during peak periods
Assist with cost tracking and financial management for project-based or operational initiatives
Contribute to the preparation of financial statements, forecasts, and variance reporting
Maintain adherence to internal controls, accounting standards, and organizational policies
Partner with internal teams and provide documentation to support audit and compliance activities
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
2-4 years of relevant accounting experience preferred
Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and core accounting principles
Experience with ERP or accounting systems (mid-size platforms preferred)
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative approach
