Pay Rate:$58,000–$60,000/year; Based on experience
Location:Cohoes, NY (On-site)

Schedule:Monday–Friday, Full-Time, 8-5

Education:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
Experience: Must have 2–3 years of accounting experience
Skills: Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel required

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join its finance team and support accounting operations across multiple entities. This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and can balance day-to-day accounting responsibilities with financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end activities.

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant will include:

• Perform daily accounting functions, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare financial statements and reports for multiple entities
• Process and support accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Manage aging reports and assist with timely collections
• Reconcile accounts and investigate and resolve discrepancies
• Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Support internal and external audit activities by providing required documentation and information
• Maintain accurate accounting data within QuickBooks and assist with software-related updates and issues
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and applicable requirements
• Collaborate with internal departments to support smooth financial operations and timely reporting

Qualifications for the role of Staff Accountant:

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2–3 years of accounting experience
• Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of general accounting principles and practices
• Ability to manage accounting responsibilities across multiple entities
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Preferred:

• Experience with other accounting software
