Staff Accountant / Project Accountant (Temp-to-Hire)

Location: Fremont, CA (100% Onsite)
Pay Rate: $33-$38/hour
Duration: Temp-to-Hire

Our growing client in Fremont is seeking a Staff Accountant / Project Accountant to join their team on a temp-to-hire basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, managing project costs, and contributing to the financial success of a dynamic organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Track, analyze, and reconcile project costs and expenditures
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities
• Review project budgets and monitor cost variances
• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions
• Generate financial and project-related reports using Excel
• Maintain accurate accounting records in QuickBooks
• Support project managers with financial data and cost reporting
• Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures
• Assist with audits and special projects as needed

Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a project accounting, construction, manufacturing, or cost accounting environment
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and project cost tracking
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and reporting
• Experience using QuickBooks required
• Highly analytical with strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
