Job DescriptionStaff Accountant (Controller Track)Location: North Scottsdale, AZSchedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, in-office in Scottsdale.Salcito Custom Homes and its affiliated companies are leaders in luxury residential construction, interior design, and property management services. We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our growing team and support multiple related entities. This opportunity may be particularly attractive to candidates seeking Staff Accountant, Accounting Associate, or Junior Accountant opportunities, as well as those interested in developing expertise in construction accounting.This is an exceptional opportunity for an accounting professional who wants to build a long‑term career with a clear path to leadership. The Staff Accountant will gain hands‑on experience across multiple businesses while developing expertise in bookkeeping, accounting operations, financial reporting, and multi‑entity business operations within a fast‑paced and entrepreneurial environment.In this role, you will be exposed to construction accounting, job costing, project billing, multi‑entity accounting, and financial operations—valuable experience that can accelerate your professional growth and prepare you for increasing levels of responsibility.Exposure to multiple legal entities and industries provides a unique opportunity to develop a broad foundation in accounting, finance, and business operations early in your career.We welcome recent Accounting and Finance graduates, as well as early‑career accounting professionals who are eager to learn and grow. Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software is preferred but not required. We are willing to train a motivated candidate who possesses a strong accounting foundation, excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.This role works closely with ownership and senior leadership, providing valuable exposure to financial decision‑making, business strategy, and day‑to‑day operations across multiple companies.Successful candidates will have the opportunity to advance into Assistant Controller and ultimately Controller‑level responsibilities as they develop within the organization. Advancement is based on demonstrated performance, technical proficiency, leadership development, and the evolving needs of the business.ResponsibilitiesAccounting Operations & Bookkeeping:Perform bookkeeping and accounting support across multiple entities using the following technology platforms:QuickBooks OnlineIntuit Enterprise (planned migration)Microsoft ExcelMicrosoft Office SuiteFohlio (interior design software)Record incoming ACH, wire, check, and credit card payments and allocate transactions to the appropriate projects and accounts.Complete monthly account reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance.Maintain accurate, organized, and up‑to‑date accounting records across multiple entities.Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions as needed.Assist with payroll processing and related administrative tasks.Construction Accounting & Project Support:Support special progress billing and construction‑related accounting activities.Assist with financial analysis and reporting as requested by management.Track and maintain lien waivers, certificates of insurance (COIs), W‑9s, and subcontractor documentation.Support job costing and project accounting processes across multiple companies.Client, Vendor & Internal Support:Respond professionally and promptly to client and vendor inquiries regarding invoices, payments, account activity, and related matters.Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining strong working relationships with clients, project managers, department heads, vendors, subcontractors, and internal team members.Assist with collections efforts and follow‑up on outstanding customer balances.Compliance & Regulatory Reporting:Prepare and file state and city sales tax returns.Assist with annual 1099 preparation and reporting requirements.Support other business‑related filings, compliance requirements, and administrative obligations as assigned.Administrative & Operational Support:Support additional accounting, administrative, and operational functions as needed.Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute to the continued growth and efficiency of the organization.Qualifications0–5 years of accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or construction office experience preferredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Management Information Systems, or a related field is requiredMBA or advanced accounting coursework is a plusExperience with QuickBooks Online or Intuit Enterprise is preferredMust be proficient in Excel and Word, and have general computer skillsExperience or familiarity with accrual‑based accounting, job costing, and construction accounting preferredUnderstanding of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reconciliations, and general accounting principlesStrong problem‑solving skills, organizational skills, and attention to detailAbility to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities simultaneouslyStrong customer service and communication skills requiredAbility to professionally handle client, inter‑office, and vendor communicationsComfortable working in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environmentMust be willing to work in‑office in Scottsdale, Arizona 5 days a weekSpanish is a plusCompensationAnnual compensation range: $65,000–$80,000, depending on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated capabilities.BenefitsHealth insuranceHealth Savings Account (HSA)401(k) with 4% company match following eligibility requirementsLife insuranceShort‑ and Long‑Term Disability coveragePaid Time OffPaid Sick TimePaid HolidaysCareer advancement opportunitiesEligibilityApplicants must have current, valid work authorization that does not now and/or will not in the future require sponsorship of a Visa for employment authorization in the U.S. by Salcito Custom Homes, Ltd.We believe in hiring the best person for the job.
