Staff Accountant (Temp-to-Hire)
Location: Elk Grove, CA (100% Onsite)
Pay Rate: $33-$37 per hour

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant for a temp-to-hire opportunity based fully onsite in Elk Grove, CA. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with at least one year of hands-on experience who is looking to grow within a dynamic organization. The Staff Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations, assist with month-end close, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end account reconciliations
- Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes
- Maintain general ledger and ensure integrity of financial data
- Analyze financial statements and variances
- Support accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes as needed
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audits
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting regulations
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial operations
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- Minimum 1+ year of experience as a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role
- Strong understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs preferred)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Prior experience in a mid-sized or fast-growing organization
- Progress toward CPA certification is a plus but not required
