Avero is partnering with an established, growing commercial and industrial services company to hire a Staff Accountant. This position offers broad exposure to accounting operations, direct access to the Controller, and opportunities to take on greater responsibility as the business expands.
We’re looking for someone with a solid accounting foundation who enjoys digging into reconciliations, answering questions, and keeping financial information accurate and organized. You’ll join a collaborative team and help manage the daily accounting work that allows the Controller to focus on planning and business growth.
What You’ll Do
Own monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items.
Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules for month-end close.
Serve as a resource for day-to-day questions involving accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash applications, and collections.
Support project accounting, billing, and the accurate tracking of project costs.
Help maintain and improve accounting procedures, documentation, and internal controls.
Prepare schedules and documentation for audits and financial reporting.
Assist the Controller with analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting projects as needed.
Work with colleagues across the business to resolve questions and keep accounting information complete and timely.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
At least 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience, with exposure to multiple accounting functions.
Strong understanding of debits, credits, journal entries, reconciliations, and general accounting principles.
Strong Excel skills and comfort learning accounting software.
Ability to investigate issues, follow through independently, and communicate clearly.
An approachable, dependable work style and comfort working in an active, collaborative office.
Public accounting or audit experience would be valuable, as would experience with internal controls. Prior construction or service industry accounting experience is helpful but is not required. CPA candidates and licensed CPAs are encouraged to apply.
Compensation & Growth
Discretionary bonus opportunity.
Two weeks of PTO and three sick days.
401(k) with company contribution.
Full-time, onsite Monday–Friday schedule with some flexibility in start and end times.
Opportunity to develop toward a supervisory role as the company grows.
Work directly with a Controller who can support qualifying CPA experience requirements.
If you’re looking for broad accounting responsibility and room to grow with a business, we’d welcome a conversation.
