Overview:
LHH is partnering with a growing, community-focused organization in North San Diego County to identify an experienced Accountant for a temp-to-hire opportunity. This role offers the chance to step into a dynamic accounting team during a period of growth and transition, with strong long-term potential for the right candidate.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to operate with minimal oversight while managing multiple priorities.
Responsibilities:
Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries and account reconciliations
Support monthly and year-end close processes
Prepare financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules
Review and verify accounting transactions (invoices, purchase orders, etc.)
Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and bank accounts
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting procedures
Track financial activity related to specific projects or funding sources as needed
Partner cross-functionally to gather financial data and support reporting needs
Identify and implement process improvements within accounting workflows
Provide support and guidance to junior staff, as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
3+ years of general accounting experience
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting processes
Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs or similar)
Experience with ERP systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
