Lighthouse Technology Services is recruiting for a role on our internal team to fill our Staff Accountant / Full-Charge Bookkeeper position! This is a direct placement opportunity and will be hybrid 4 days on site in Buffalo, NY. No C2C or subcontracting arrangements will be considered.
What You'll Be Doing:
Manage full-cycle accounting operations across multiple divisions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance for a multi-entity organization
Oversee bi-weekly payroll administration including data entry, timesheet review, employee setup, and multi-state tax compliance monitoring
Execute month-end close processes by performing GL account reconciliations, period-end data entry, and accuracy verification across all business entities
Support tax compliance efforts including quarterly sales tax preparation and filing, annual 1099 compilation and reporting, and quarterly tax estimate preparation for external CPA
Manage vendor and client relationships through account setup, invoice processing, credit card reconciliation, and billing resolution across Staffing, Services, and Marketing divisions
Coordinate compliance and benefits reporting including disability insurance (NYS PFL, DBL), client diversity reporting, 401(k) census, and insurance renewals
Collaborate with external CPA firms by preparing year-end documentation, schedules, and supporting materials for audit and tax preparation
Drive special accounting and finance projects while providing budgeting, forecasting, and strategic divisional support
What You'll Need to Have:
3+ years of progressive accounting or full-charge bookkeeping experience, preferably in a high-volume, service-based business environment
Strong proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software with demonstrated ability to manage multi-entity accounting operations
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis capabilities
Proven experience processing full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable in a fast-paced environment
Hands-on experience with payroll operations and solid understanding of GAAP principles
Demonstrated expertise in general ledger reconciliation and month-end close processes
Experience with multi-state payroll tax compliance, sales tax preparation, and 1099 reporting preferred
Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred); OR equivalent combination of education and professional experience
