ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Proficient with excel using VLOOKUP and pivot tables as needed to efficiently analyze data, identify variances, etc.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements and resolve any discrepancies
  • Reconcile monthly general ledger accounts and resolve any discrepancies
  • Perform data entry of miscellaneous journal entries, including transfers / reclassifications
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing cycles by reviewing accounts, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports / statements
  • Assist with the year-end audit with preparation of support schedules, financials, etc.
  • Set up / maintain on-line access to accounts for all personnel
  • Prepare sales tax reports
  • Perform quarterly grant accounting/funds draw downs
  • Load annual budget files/perform data entry of budget adjustments
  • Prepare quarterly investment journal entries/schedules
  • Reviews bank account activity daily and processes direct deposits, ACHs, stop payments, etc. via the bank's website.

  • Education and / or Experience -- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Accounting or Finance, from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Communication / Language -- Requires effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and intermediate computer literacy. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports and legal documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from members of the college community and outside vendors.
  • Mathematical -- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning -- Ability to identify problems, collect data, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations -- None required
  • Computer Literacy / General Office Equipment - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel. Word, Outlook), CARS / Jenzabar System, Internet. Basic office equipment to include facsimile, copier machines, printer, calculator.
