Staff Accountant

Dark Horse serves utilities across the Southeast through right-of-way vegetation management and powerline construction. We're scaling quickly across multiple states and entities, and we're looking for a Staff Accountant who wants to grow with us.The RoleWe're looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with 3+ years of experience to own the day-to-day financial operations of a growing multi-entity company. This role is hands-on and high-visibility — you'll work directly with the VP of Finance and get exposure to job costing, multi-entity accounting, and operations well beyond a typical staff accounting seat.What You'll DoCash & BankingReconcile bank accounts and manage credit card activity across multiple entitiesPrepare and issue customer invoicing and manage accounts receivable, including collections follow-upProcess vendor invoices and manage accounts payable across entities and job classesSupport payroll-related accounting entriesJob Costing & ReportingSupport job costing processes and profitability reportingReview general ledger coding for accuracy across projects and crewsAssist with recurring operational reportingAdministrative & ComplianceAssist with regular tax filings and other compliance requirementsSupport insurance and equipment recordkeepingHelp with job and crew setup in company systemsWhat You'll Bring3+ years of accounting experience; construction, field services, or project-based industries a plusCPA or CPA candidate preferredStrong Excel skills; NetSuite or similar ERP experience a plusComfortable with high transaction volume and multiple entitiesSelf-starter who can manage recurring deadlines with minimal oversightWillingness to travel 1–2 weeks per year to support our Tennessee operations and learn the businessThis role offers real room to grow.
