Staff Accountant - Houston

Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. This is a great opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to build a strong foundation while gaining hands-on experience across a variety of accounting functions.

 

The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, eager to learn, and interested in developing a broad understanding of accounting within a professional services environment.

Responsibilities:

• Support day-to-day accounting activities across multiple areas of the business.
• Assist with Accounts Receivable (A/R), including payment processing and account follow-up.
• Assist with Accounts Payable (A/P), including invoice review, coding, processing, and vendor account maintenance.
• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Assist with General Ledger activities and month-end close processes.
• Perform account reconciliations and research discrepancies.
• Conduct account analysis to identify trends, variances, and unusual activity.
• Assist with preparation of financial and management reports.
• Assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities.
• Maintain accurate and organized financial documentation.
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting questions and discrepancies.
• Take on additional accounting responsibilities and projects as skills and experience develop.

Qualifications:

• 1–2 years of accounting experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of fundamental accounting principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
• Eagerness to learn and grow within the accounting profession.
