Description

Fairwinds Technologies is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant with a strong background in government contracting to join our finance team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for accounting operations, with a focus on accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), and expense management, along with assisting the Director of Accounting and Finance with monthly tasks. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings knowledge of FAR/DFARS, DCAA/DCMA compliance, and federal billing structures.Salary Range: $70,000.00 To $78,000.00 AnnuallyResponsibilitiesAccounts ReceivableWork closely with Program Management, and Finance to validate invoices, billing terms, CLIN structure, contract mods, and funding limits.Assist with preparation, submission, and recording accurate and timely invoices with supporting documentation for multiple contract types in compliance with government regulations and contract terms through various government and customer portals.Monitor accounts receivable aging schedules, follow-up on unpaid invoices and ensure timely collections through direct engagement with contracting officers, payment offices, commercial customers, and internal program managers.Ensure proper cash application and payment reconciliations.Accounts PayableProcess vendor invoices and ensure proper coding and approvals.Maintain vendor records and respond to vendor inquiriesReconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepanciesEnsure compliance with company policies and internal controlsExpense ManagementReview and process employee expense reportsEnsure expenses comply with company policies and documentation requirementsReconcile expense accounts and corporate credit card transactionsMonthly CloseAssist with month-end and year-end close processes and workpapers.Assist with reconciling accounts payable and receivable accounts.Collaborate with cross-functional teams as neededCompliance and ControlsEnsure compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures.Support internal control initiatives and documentation.Special ProjectsParticipate in system upgrades or implementations.Support process improvement initiatives.Qualifications2+ years of accounting experience with a government contractor.Proficient in government invoicing tools and systems, including WAWF, DFAS, IPP, DOVA, and customer portals like CACI.Understanding of FAR/DFARS, DCAA audit standards, and federal billing practices.Experience with T&M, Cost-Plus, FFP, and Progress/Performance-Based Payment contract types.Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.Exceptional attention to detail and time management.Ability to work as a collaborative team memberAccounting system experience with QuickBooks Online and/or Deltek CostpointFamiliarity with small business contractsPosition Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time, exempt position.Work Authorization/Security ClearanceMust be a U.S citizenAAP/EEO StatementFairwinds Technologies, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer – M/F/Veteran/Disability/Sexual Orientation/Gender IdentityAt Fairwinds, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience.
