Purpose: The Staff Accountant II performs landlord lease and sublease accounting processes, completing rent calculations, reconciliations, and compliance reporting while providing a high-level of customer support to landlords and subtenants.
Essential Functions:
Reporting Relationship: The Staff Accountant II reports to the Senior Manager of Rent Accounting
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:
Education and Experience: The combination of education and professional experience must exceed 5 years:
In a technical role: Requires 5 years of experience engaged in delivering accounting programs; rent accounting experience strongly preferred
A bachelor's degree in a program related to the functional area can count for 3 of the 5-year requirement
In the industry: 3+ years of hospitality, F&B and/or retail experience
Specialized Training:
Training that leads to strong knowledge of GAAP principles and their practical application
Knowledge of state and federal tax regulations and statutes
Specialized Skillset/Competencies/Traits:
Solid Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis functions
Experience with PeopleSoft Financials and SAP a plus
Analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify root causes of variances, and develop solutions
High level of accuracy in work product with strong quality control mindset
Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
Business acumen and also has the mindset required to understand the long-term implications of accounting to advance the organization's goals
Demonstrated history of understanding the needs of the business, stakeholders, the employee population, and individual circumstances
Demonstrated history of creating and maintaining positive work environments
