Additionally, this role performs a variety of administrative and accounting functions including planning, organizing, developing, implementing, and coordinating the accounting processes. The ability to independently analyze system transactions and postings for accuracy is also a requirement for this role. This position may involve early morning, evening, and weekend responsibilities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Prepare and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.Responsible for performing and recording inventory and cash audits on accounting scheduled process.Perform and assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and ensuring all deadlines are met.Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are resolved.Track and maintain fixed assets, including depreciation schedules and asset disposals.Process Accounts Receivable transactions as needed.Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.Assist with special projects and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency.Prepares or assists taxes filings (State of Michigan Sales Tax and 1099).Responsible for tracking and maintain the Association contracts and agreements.Assist in maintaining the Association system credits and gift cards.Assist for the Association chargebacks and collections.Assist in maintaining charge and credit card accounts, including updating all internal documents and audits.Prepares monthly account reconciliations, research variances, prepare documentation and support, and follow up to clear reconciling items.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve discrepancies or variances in financial data,Works with other departments to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations and ensure compliance with GAAP principles.Participates in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the accounting/finance department.Assists with the preparation of the annual independent and single audit.Performs accounting functions, distributes charges to proper accounts and maintains appropriate general ledger subsidiary records.Provides support to the Association on requests for assistance relating to membership and childcare bank draft, accounting, budgeting, auditing procedures, and/or software application assistance.Supports the Association special events by attending meetings and events, handling cash, post-event reconciliation, and providing general support as needed.Builds and develop a team atmosphere within the department; provide other accounting department coverage as needed – act as a member of a cross functional team.Performs various accounting analyses or special projects as requested.Perform any other function necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.COMPENSATION:$22 - $25 per hour; Full Time Hourly; Non-Exempt (40 hours per week)BENEFITS:Free YMCA Family Membership and discounted program feesPaid Time Off, beginning at 3 weeks per year9 Paid Holidays per year12% retirement contribution upon eligibility, learn more here.403(b) retirement savings accountThe YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is a qualifying employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. YMCA or not-for-profit experience preferred. Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
