Staff Accountant


Location: Carmel, IN (Hybrid)
Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 + Bonus Potential


About the Opportunity


Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their collaborative finance team. This hybrid opportunity offers the chance to work for a stable, mission-driven organization that values professional development, work-life balance, and employee engagement. Reporting to the Accounting Manager/Controller, you'll play a key role in the month-end close process, financial reporting, reconciliations, and day-to-day accounting operations. Staff accountants typically support general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and monthly reporting while ensuring accurate financial records.


Responsibilities



  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger.

  • Perform monthly bank, balance sheet, and account reconciliations.

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.

  • Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules.

  • Analyze account activity and research discrepancies.

  • Support annual audit preparation and provide requested documentation.

  • Assist with budgeting and financial analysis as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and GAAP.

  • Collaborate with departments across the organization to improve financial processes.

  • Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • 2+ years of accounting experience.

  • Experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, and reconciliations.
