The Financial Architecture Behind the Designs.
Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys the rhythm of project-based billing? Thompson & Litton is seeking a Staff Accountant to serve as a vital bridge between our Project Managers and our financial operations. In this role, you aren't just 'crunching numbers'—you are ensuring the revenue stream of a multi-disciplined firm remains healthy, supporting projects that literally change the map of our region.
The Role: Impact & Accuracy
As a Staff Accountant, you will manage the full-cycle billing process and serve as a key resource for our Project Management team. You will:
- Manage Project Billing: Collaborate with Project Managers (PMs) to generate complex invoices tailored to specific contract terms (Hourly, Fixed Fee, or Percent Complete).
- Ensure Revenue Integrity: Capture sub-consultant expenses and reimbursable costs accurately to ensure every dollar is accounted for.
- Optimize Cash Flow: Post daily receipts and lead proactive, professional collection efforts by monitoring aging reports.
- Support Payroll: Process firm-wide payroll with a high degree of accuracy and strict confidentiality using ADP.
- Master the System: Maintain project-specific billing rates and resolve discrepancies within our Deltek Vantagepoint ERP system.
- Audit Excellence: Provide critical support for year-end audits and special projects as directed by the Director of Accounting.
What You Bring
- Education: An undergraduate degree from a four-year college (Accounting major preferred).
- Technical Savvy: Proficiency in Excel is a must. Preferred experience with Deltek Vantagepoint (ERP) and ADP.
- Industry Knowledge: A solid understanding of GAAP. Experience within an Architectural, Engineering, or Construction firm is a significant plus.
- Communication: The ability to translate financial data into clear conversations with technical Project Managers and external clients.
- Precision: An obsession with detail and a proven ability to meet tight monthly deadlines.
Why Thompson & Litton?
- Employee-Owned (ESOP): Work for a firm where you are a shareholder. As an accountant, you'll truly appreciate the long-term wealth-building power of our 100% employee-owned structure.
- Stability & Growth: Join a multi-office firm with a diverse client base and a deep history in the mid-Atlantic region.
- Collaborative Culture: We value the 'human' side of finance. You'll be an integrated partner to our design teams, not just someone in a back office.
- Comprehensive Benefits: Competitive compensation, 401(k) matching, and a full suite of health and dental insurance.
If you're excited about joining a team who collaborates and innovates, we want to hear from you!
