Job Summary/Company:

Sparks Group has teamed with globally recognized IT Services organization for a Staff Accountant. This role is responsible for supporting month-end close activities, preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, analyzing financial data, and ensuring accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities independently. Experience with ERP systems, strong Excel skills, and a commitment to accuracy and continuous process improvement are essential for success in this role. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and support timely month-end close activities.
  • Analyze accruals, prepaid expenses, and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain deferred revenue schedules and assist with revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Ensure financial records are accurate, compliant with GAAP, and audit-ready through detailed account analysis.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team on reporting, process improvements, and other accounting projects as needed.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, month-end close processes, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems such as Great Plains (or similar accounting software).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a publicly traded company or SOX-compliant environment.
  • Knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookup functions, and complex formulas.
  • Experience balancing competing deadlines during month-end close while responding to ad hoc requests.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems, processes, and business workflows.
