Position Title: Staff Accountant

Location: Melville, Long Island, NY (On-Site)

A growing healthcare company in Melville is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to build a strong foundation in core accounting functions while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Core Responsibilities:

Assist with day-to-day accounting operations including journal entries and general ledger support

Support month-end close activities, including account reconciliations and schedules

Prepare and reconcile bank, balance sheet, and expense accounts

Assist with inventory tracking, cost accounting, and manufacturing-related transactions

Support preparation of financial reports and variance analysis

Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and documentation

Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes

Support audit preparation by compiling schedules and responding to information requests

Collaborate with operations and finance teams to resolve discrepancies

Participate in process improvements and system enhancements as needed

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline

1-2 years of accounting experience (internships or co-op experience considered)

Basic understanding of GAAP and accounting principles

Strong Excel skills and comfort working with data

Experience with accounting software; ERP exposure a plus

Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills

Eagerness to learn and grow within an accounting team

Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented mindset
