We are supporting our client on a search for a Staff Accountant who will be a hands-on owner of the day-to-day accounting function. This is a high-trust seat with real responsibility, mentorship from a strong Controller, and a clear path to Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager roles.

You will work hybrid out of a beautiful NYC office three days per week. We are open to staff accountants at growing companies, public accounting auditors making the jump into industry, and finance ops folks with strong accounting fundamentals.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day general ledger accounting and journal entries
  • Lead bank, credit card, and merchant account reconciliations
  • Help drive the monthly and quarterly close process
  • Prepare schedules, flux analyses, and supporting documentation
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable cycles
  • Maintain fixed asset and prepaid schedules
  • Help prepare workpapers for annual audit and tax filings
  • Partner with FP&A on variance reviews and reporting

Requirements

  • 2 plus years of staff accounting, public accounting, or finance ops experience
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP fundamentals
  • Comfort with QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar
  • Strong Excel skills and clean documentation habits
  • Hybrid presence in the NYC office at least three days per week
  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or related; CPA candidate a plus
