About The RoleAKRF is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations within a fast-paced engineering and environmental consulting firm. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and project-based accounting standards. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced accountant who understands project-based revenue, WIP, and job costing in a professional services environment.Job ResponsibilitiesGeneral Accounting & ClosePrepare and post journal entries (accruals, prepaids, allocations).Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank and balance sheet accounts.Assist with financial statement preparation and variance analysis.Project Accounting SupportSupport revenue recognition (percentage-of-completion / time & materials).Analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) and deferred revenue balances.Partner with project accountants to review project financials, budgets, and profitability.Compliance & AuditSupport annual audit (and other agencies' audits) and tax preparation processes.Maintain documentation to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.Assist with implementation and adherence to accounting policies and procedures.Process ImprovementIdentify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and reporting.Support ERP system enhancements and automation initiatives.Essential RequirementsBachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.3-5 years of accounting experience (professional services, engineering, or consulting preferred).CPA or CPA-track preferred but not required.Strong understanding of:GAAPRevenue recognitionProject/job costing and WIPExperience with ERP systems (e.g., Deltek Vision, Vantagepoint, or similar).Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).CompensationCompensation will range from $80,000 to $90,000, and will be commensurate with experience.BenefitsMedical, Dental, Vision insurance.Vacation and Sick time.Flexible work schedules and locations.401(k) retirement plan with employer matching.Additional Voluntary Life Insurance.Short- and Long-Term Disability.Stock Ownership.Tuition Reimbursement.Training and professional development courses.Opportunities for community outreach through internal networks.Charitable donation match.Transit/parking program.Work Authorization DisclaimerApplicants should be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time they apply.
