The Bowery Mission meets essential needs and creates transformative communities with men, women, children, and families in New York so that we can together overcome homelessness and poverty and flourish.The Staff Accountant role is part of a dynamic team supporting operations through financial reporting. Specifically, the Staff Accountant role is responsible for assigned bank reconciliation, payroll entries and recording of Gift-in-Kind, selected Accounts Payable issues, Fixed Asset reconciliation and monthly Expense reporting as well as general support during month-end close and periods of audit.Specific ResponsibilitiesResponsible for assigned bank reconciliation to be complete in an accurate and timely manner for each month.Responsible for attending bi-weekly payroll meetings, process payroll and make bi-weekly payroll entries.Responsible for weekly management of Gift-in-Kind to ensure accuracy in reporting by donor, priced value and reporting in the General Ledger.Research issues with Accounts Payable, enter invoices as needed.Review monthly work-in-progress, capitalized completed projects to place into service, compute and record monthly depreciation.Prepares all monthly departmental expense reporting highlighting variances and assisting department heads in analysis.Schedule: Monday-Friday: 9:00am-5:30pmRequirementsEmbrace's the organization's Statement of Faith.Business Bachelor's degree with a major or 24 credits in Accounting.1 to 2 years of experience.Strong computer skills, MS Office tools and MS Excel in particular.PreferredKnowledge of nonprofit accounting financial management, accounting principles, laws and regulations.Salary$75,000#J-18808-Ljbffr
