Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing finance team. This position offers an outstanding opportunity for an accounting professional looking to expand their technical expertise while contributing to a fast-growing, private equity-backed healthcare organization.

Reporting directly to the Senior Accountant, the Staff Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close activities, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and eager to continue developing their accounting skillset within a collaborative, high-growth environment.
This hands-on role provides exposure to a broad range of accounting functions across a rapidly expanding organization supporting more than 160 dental practices throughout the Northeast.

This role offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience within a sophisticated, multi-site healthcare organization while working alongside experienced accounting and finance professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
General Accounting:
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with daily accounting activities and financial transactions.
  • Support the integrity and accuracy of financial records.

Financial Reporting:
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Support interim and annual audit requests.
  • Analyze financial data and assist with variance investigations.
  • Provide reporting support to accounting leadership as needed.

Month-End Close:
  • Participate in monthly close activities and reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Ensure timely completion of assigned close responsibilities.

Prepaids, Fixed Assets & Banking:
  • Manage prepaid expense schedules and ensure accurate expense recognition.
  • Maintain fixed asset records, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals.
  • Perform daily banking activities and account reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve banking discrepancies when necessary

Accounts Payable & Operational Support:
  • Assist with accounts payable processing and reconciliations.
  • Review and reconcile corporate credit card transactions.
  • Collaborate with operational departments to obtain necessary financial information.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives and accounting projects.

Process Improvement & Compliance:
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
  • Support internal control procedures and compliance initiative.
  • Assist with audit preparation and documentation requests.
  • Maintain adherence to GAAP and company accounting policies.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum 2+ years of accounting experience required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience with general ledger reconciliations and month-end close activities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and banking reconciliations.
  • Experience supporting accounts payable processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct preferred.
  • Familiarity with private equity-backed or multi-site organizations preferred.
  • Experience utilizing AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or similar technologies to improve efficiency and workflow automation.
  • Desire to continuously learn and develop technical accounting skills.
