If you need assistance in completing this application or with the application process because of a disability, please contact the People and Culture Department (people@barrys.com).About the roleThe Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and assisting with the monthly close process.This role requires a detail-oriented and proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses a strong foundation in accounting principles, and enjoys collaborating across departments to improve processes and support business growth.What you'll doGeneral AccountingPrepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting documentationPerform monthly account reconciliations and investigate variancesAssist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reportingMaintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with company policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Support accrual calculations, prepaid expense schedules, and fixed asset accountingFinancial Reporting & AnalysisAssist in preparing monthly financial statements and management reportsAnalyze financial data and identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvementsSupport budget-to-actual reporting and variance analysisPrepare ad hoc reports and schedules for Finance leadership as neededCompliance & Audit SupportMaintain organized accounting records and supporting documentationAssist with internal and external audit requests by preparing reconciliations and schedulesEnsure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirementsSupport tax filings and other statutory reporting requirements as neededCross-Functional PartnershipCollaborate with Accounts Payable, Payroll, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reportingRespond to internal inquiries related to accounting transactions and reconciliationsIdentify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency through automation and standardizationParticipate in system implementations and continuous improvement initiativesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate, retail, hospitality, or multi-unit environmentStrong understanding of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principlesExperience supporting month-end close processes and performing account reconciliationsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems or ERP platformsExcellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsStrong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesEffective written and verbal communication skills#J-18808-Ljbffr
