Staff Accountant/Payroll Specialist

Title: Staff Accountant/Payroll Specialist (Contract)

Pay Rate: $36 - $42 per hour 

Duration: 6-Month assignment with strong potential for extension and conversion

Hours: Full-Time, Monday through Friday

Location: San Diego, CA (Onsite)

Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant/Payroll Specialist to support both payroll processing and general accounting functions. This position will be split evenly between payroll and accounting responsibilities, including processing payroll twice per week, completing general ledger reconciliations and ensuring certified payroll compliance.

What You’ll Do

•        Process payroll twice per week accurately and on schedule

•        Maintain employee payroll records and resolve payroll discrepancies

•        Ensure compliance with certified payroll requirements

•        Prepare and complete general ledger reconciliations

•        Research and resolve accounting discrepancies

•        Support month-end close and other general accounting activities

•        Maintain accurate documentation and financial recordsWork within Miter Payroll,

•        Viewpoint Spectrum and Procore

•        Partner with internal teams to ensure payroll and accounting information is accurate and complete

•        Assist with additional payroll, accounting and reporting needs as assigned

Required Skills & Competencies

•        Experience supporting both payroll processing and general accounting functions

•        Strong knowledge of general ledger reconciliations

•        Experience with certified payroll compliance

•        Experience using Miter Payroll software

•        Experience using Viewpoint Spectrum

•        Experience using Procore Construction Management software

•        Previous accounting or payroll experience within the construction industry strongly preferred

•        Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidential information

•        Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills

•        Ability to work onsite in San Diego, California
