Salary Range: $60,000 to $74,800

 

The University of St. Thomas has provided a salary range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

 

JOB SUMMARY

To reconcile the University's depository and checking accounts; record investment transactions; manage fixed assets; approve journal vouchers on a rotating basis; answer departmental inquiries regarding their budgets and departmental accounts; serve as contact person for student organization advisors and officers and Undergraduate Student Government (USG) personnel regarding student funded club and organization accounts; assist the Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, and Controller, Affairs with special projects.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Reconciliation of GCF and all other bank accounts (Payroll, Controlled Disbursement, SPS, Wells Fargo); investigation of issues related to the Positive Pay fraud protection program.
  • Track and record all endowment and other investment income and manager fees for all investment assets of approximately $900 million. As part of recording the investment earnings, the earnings must be allocated in an equitable manner to approximately 800 endowment and quasi-endowment funds on a monthly basis.
  • Fixed Assets
    • Maintaining an accounting for Property, Plant and Equipment in accordance with established policies.
    • Responsible for any updating and changes to capital project accts/orgs/funds and location codes
    • Setup assets to depreciate in accordance with established policies
    • Monitor the building project funds in order to determine if assets should be capitalized or CIP.
    • Approve capital expenses through the purchasing department
  • Audit preparation/schedules/reconciliations.
  • Answer departmental questions regarding their account budgets, reports, and charges. Assist Student Affairs and club advisors in understanding the financial systems, procedures, and policies.
  • Approve journal vouchers on a rotating basis with other Controller’s Office staff. 
  • Perform special projects as assigned by the Assistant Controller, Controller, and Vice-President for Business Affairs.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Two years of professional accounting experience

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.
