Staff Accountant (Fast Track to Assistant Controller)

Location: Del Mar, CA (Onsite)
Schedule: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 5 days/week
(Includes one weekend day during peak season to maintain a 5-day workweek)
Compensation: $85,000 - $95,000 (Direct Hire)

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing team in Del Mar. This role offers a unique fast-track opportunity to Assistant Controller for high-performing individuals who demonstrate strong technical skills, leadership potential, and a drive to grow within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain fixed asset accounting, including tracking, capitalization, and depreciation schedules
• Perform bank reconciliations and general account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Prepare and file sales tax returns in compliance with applicable regulations
• Support and execute month-end close processes, including journal entries and reporting
• Oversee and manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, and aging analysis
• Assist with financial reporting and ad hoc accounting projects as needed
• Identify process improvements and contribute to increased efficiency within the accounting function

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
• Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
• Experience with Sage accounting software preferred
• High attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
